Power Yoga: Great For Core Fitness

...Do you have any previous experience in martial arts? Perhaps you once tried a little karate in high school, or checked out a tae kwon do class at your local YMCA. Anyway, you may have dabbled in martial arts a little. Thats a good thing, since most people have never had any experience in a self-defense discipline and have little understanding of what the training is like. But even if you have minor experience, you may not be prepared for the training required for a similar type of fitness discipline. The reasons for this were clear and simple. Firstly I was a man, secondly I was over 45 and thirdly I was significantly overweight.

But against my better judgement I was enticed to attend a Yoga for Health & Wellbeing retreat. The website promised gentle yoga, beautiful mountain scenery, healthy local food and the company of like minded individuals. The person we talked to on the phone echoed this reassurance and seemed friendly and warm so we took the plunge and booked.

On arrival the setting exceeded our expectations. Charming & comfortable rustic spanish houses set in the mountains with stunning ...more

Yoga in Practice: In search of the Perfect Yoga - Part 1

Lastly, I do personally like the heat. However, in New England, I know many people who dont. Even at moderate temperatures, many students get quite warm in a Vinyasa class.

If your alignment is not perfect, why bother to practice Yoga?

Without a doubt, alignment is very important, but some of us really need to use pr...more
